Be Still and Know that I am God

Hello everyone!!! Or in southern... Hey y'all!!!!!!

I'm a little short on time so it will be a quicker general email :)
Rundown of the week:
Monday we saw S. again and read Alma 32. Then we saw N. and L.!
Tuesday: We saw Sister M. Then we saw Papa J. and taught about the Word of Wisdom! Then we sang at Golden Age! Then we went on exchanges! So I went down to Spartanburg with Sister H. which was a lot of fun! We visited quite a few people in the area both on Tuesday evening and on Wednesday morning so it was great :)
Wednesday: Was the rest of the exchange! After our exchange we went and saw R. We were late coming back from exchanges so we just had time to read Alma 7:11-13 with him. Then in the evening we were able to see E. and D. They are going through a bit of a rough time right now so we were there to try to help comfort them. At the end I felt prompted to play for them on the guitar they had there a song called "Be Still" that Sister Coleman really likes that's based on the scripture that says "Be Still and know that I am God" the whole mood changed and they both said how much better they felt, so music is awesome!
Thursday we had an all day Zone Conference! It was really good! President talked to us a lot about focusing on the Book of Mormon and becoming fully converted to the Gospel so we can better share it with others! So it was really good! And we even passed the car inspection! One of the Zone Leaders told us that ours was one of the cleanest cars :) It was very exciting, ha,ha! In the evening we had a quick visit with the guy named L. and then we went and saw K.! She was baptized a year ago, so to celebrate that we had a lesson on baptism!!!
Friday we planned for our week! Then we went and helped K. paint their bathroom! Yay for service! Then we taught them a lesson on following the prophet (in honor of general conference coming up! yay!). Then we saw the B. family and talked about keeping the Sabbath Day Holy!
Saturday: There was a fall festival in Inman and the soup kitchen we go to had a booth and so we helped them run that for a few hours! So that was fun! Then we saw Sister K. Then we had a lesson with Papa J. on tithing! Then we saw M. quickly and also H. quickly. We shared scriptures with both of them, but I can't remember what off the top of my head, ha ha! Then we got to go to the women's broadcast!!! Our ward had a dinner before which was a lot of fun! D., K., Sister M., K. and J. were all there! So it was really exciting! Also one of the sisters in the ward brought a nonmember friend and she was actually a lady that we have knocked on her door before and she remembered us! so that's pretty cool :)
Sunday was good! the M. Family, B. Family, and K. were at church! After we went and saw E. and D. and shared Alma 22:14! In the evening we saw N. and reviewed the restoration with him. Then we saw J. and K. and read Moroni 10 with them!
So it was another fantastic week! I wish I had more time to write a little bit more about it... but oh well :)
Spiritual thought is the scripture that we shared with E. and D. after singing Be Still for them. It is in the Doctrine and Covenants section 101 verses 12-16. This was a revelation to Joseph Smith as the early members of the Church were facing a lot of persecution in Missouri. It says "And in that day all who are found upon the watch-tower, or in other words, all min Israel, shall be saved. And they that have been scattered shall be gathered. And all they who have mourned shall be comforted. And all they who have given their lives for my name shall be crowned. Therefore, let your hearts be comforted concerning Zion; for all flesh is in mine hands; be still and know that I am God."  there is a lot of craziness that we go through in this life.  But we can be assured that God is still in control. That everything has a purpose for us to learn and grow and we will be rewarded for our faith in times of trial in the next life. I know that is true because I have seen it over and over on my mission.
I love y'all so much and hope y'all have a blessed week!
Love always,
Sister Amy Bennett :)

Walk in the meekness of my Spirit, and you shall have peace!

Hey y'all!!!!
We have had another good week here in Inman!!!! Wahoo :)
Here's the run down:
Monday: We had p-day! Then in the evening we saw S. again (they guy who's house has the demon mosquitoes). This time I wore a long skirt and manage to survive the lesson (which was outside again) without a single mosquito bite! So that was very, very exciting!!! We had a really good lesson where we taught the message of the Restoration! Then we went and saw Sy. and Sa. We had a really good lesson with them where we read the story of Ammon out of the Book of Mormon and then acted it out with them! Sa. wasn't there for the acting out part, unfortunately. It was funny because Sister Coleman was King Lamoni, and Sy. was Ammon, and I was all the other parts! So I got to be the robbers, the sheep, the other servants, the queen, etc. I think I probably had the most fun of everyone haha!!
Tuesday: We had a really good district meeting! Then we saw Papa J. again! We taught the Gospel of Jesus Christ and really focused on baptism, since he is (slowly) working towards that right now! Then we saw the less active, Sis M. again. We read a quote from "Therefore they hushed their fears" and talked about how merciful Christ is. Then we had a really good lesson with the May family. We taught about the importance of keeping the Sabbath Day Holy and coming to church to partake of the sacrament.
Wednesday we helped out at the soup kitchen! Sister R. from the ward came with us to that, which was a lot of fun! Then we saw B. again and started to teach Plan of Salvation, but then his nephew came over so we had to postpone the rest of the lesson haha! Then we saw R. again and read with him 1 Nephi 1 to help him read from the Book of Mormon! Then in the evening we had Book of Mormon class again and then our ward missionary meeting.
Thursday we had yoga day!!!!!! The unfortunate part was that the appointments we had set up for the afternoon all fell through, but we went around trying some people so that was good! In the evening we met the grandparents of a less active's fiancée while trying to see the less active. We were able to share a little bit about the book of Mormon with the grandparents, so that was great! Then we went and saw K.! We read part of Romans 8 with her and focused on how that because of God, things really do work out in the end!
Friday we planning for the upcoming week.  Then we saw Sister M. again! We taught her the Plan of Salvation and were able to help answer a lot of her questions. Then in the evening we had a ward movie night (put on by the ward mission leader, Brother B.). We watch the Movie "Mobsters and Mormons" (which we got specially permission from out mission President to be able to go. At the end of the phone call for the President told us to have fun at the movie night. So that was pretty cool haha!). Which I'm glad that we went because we were able to make contact with a couple that was getting taught by the Elders before the ward split named E. and D., but now is in our ward. We found out just a couple weeks ago they were in our ward (the elders forgot to tell us before that) and so we had their member neighbor invite them to the activity and they came! We were able to talk to them there and they said that we could come over and start teaching them again (they had stopped for a little while with the Elders right before the split). So it was awesome! Also K. came to the activity which was really good!!!
Saturday: We saw R. in the morning and watched the video "Like a Broken Vessell" (based off Elder Holland's talk) and talked about Christ can heal us in every aspect of our lives. In the afternoon we saw B. and read Alma 34 with him. Then we saw Papa J. and taught him about the commandment the Word of Wisdom. Apparently when other missionaries in the past taught him this commandment he had quite a few concerns, but this time around he said that he would start living it! So that was really exciting!! In the evening we saw the B. family and we talked about the importance of scripture study and prayer!!
Sunday was great again! We had church! E. and D. came, which was so exciting! Also Papa J., J., the M. Family, R., and Sis M.! So it was so exciting! The B. family were unable to come because their little girl woke up sick. In the afternoon we saw G. C. again!!! (A less active we met a few months ago who had previously told missionaries not to come back but then let Sis Staheli and I come. He's been super busy the past few months and we've been texting him every week, but he was finally available this week!! yay!!!). We read 1 Nephi 3:7 with him and talked about how God will help us in every aspect of our lives. In the evening we had a really good visit with sister kasch. We shared 2 Nephi 32:3 about reading the scriptures with her. Then we saw J. and K. and read 3 Nephi 13 with them talking about how as we put God first in our lives, everything else falls in to place!
So it was another great week!! Yay!!!!!! :)
Spiritual thought for the week: This morning I was reading a conference talk from the April 2016 conference by Bishop Waddell titled "A Pattern for Peace". In it he quoted Doctrine and Covenants 19: 23-24 which reads, "Learn of me, and listen to my words; walk in the meekness of my Spirit, and you shall have peace in me. I am Jesus Christ." The talk went on to say that as we learn of Christ in the temples, listen to his words through the scriptures and the prophets, and walk in the meekness of His spirit by relying on His atonement, we can find true and lasting peace even in a world of chaos! I know that that is true. I know that as we rely on Christ and put God first in our lives, that we can have peace and that we can be safe in a changing world. Y'all should read that talk, it's really good!

I love y'all and hope that y'all have a great week!!!

Love always,
Sister Amy Bennett :)

The glory which shall be revealed in us!

Hey y'all!!!
How has your week been!
We've had another great week... as usual :)

Monday: We had p-day and also found out the exciting news of transfers! Wahoo! In the evening we saw Ralph (who is the younger brother of the twins D. and N. that we mixed up which was which). We taught him the Restoration! Hopefully we'll be able to see all three brothers together! Then we say the M. family and had a good lesson with them! We talked about the importance of obedience as well as daily scripture study and prayer. Then we quickly saw  a less active named V.
Tuesday: We saw the B. family in the morning and we read Romans 8 with them. In the afternoon we sang at Golden Age! In the evening we had a lesson with J. and K.! J. was running really late (probably forgot we were coming). So we only had time so share a quick thought, so we read Moroni 10:32 with them and talked about faith in Christ.
Wednesday we didn't go to transfer meeting! Yay!! Instead we helped out at the soup kitchen! A personal favorite! Then we saw a less active, Sister M. who just moved here. She is really nice. She lives in an assisted living so she's really lonely. We talked about the Atonement with her. Then we saw G. again and read out of the Book of Mormon with her. Unfortunately she texted us later that day asking us not to come by any more :( But now we can just go to find someone else! Then we saw Papa J. and taught him the plan of salvation! In the evening we held our first ever Book of Mormon class! So we started at the beginning. The M. Family and B. Familes came so it was exciting!!!!
Thursday before yoga day we saw a less active, S. P. quickly. We read 2 Nephi 20:31 and talked about enduring the end and finding hope through Christ. Then yoga day!!!!! It was as fun as ever!! In the afternoon we saw Sister M. again and taught her the restoration. She was baptized when she was younger, but then her family stopped going to church so she really doesn't know much about the Gospel. But she's really excited to learn about it. In the evening we saw L. and talked a little bit about the book of Mormon with him. Then we saw K. and talked about bullying (we watched a Mormon message about it with her) and peer pressure and that she should always remember how awesome she is!
Friday: We planned for the week! Then we went out and tried some people. In the evening we saw J. and read a talk from April 2015 called "Latter-day saints keep on trying". Then we saw S. and read 1 Nephi 3:7 with him about how God prepares a way for us to keep his commandments.
Saturday: In the morning we saw R. and read the talk "you matter to him" from October 2011. We recently read it with K. and thought it would help R. too! In the afternoon we saw B.and read 2 Nephi 31 with him and talked about baptism and enduring to the end! Then we met a less active teenage named J. It was a little awkward because the rest of his family aren't members so they didn't sit in and J. wasn't really interested. But he was nice and let us share a verse with him haha! Then in the evening we were out trying people. We met a man name S. who's 8 year old son is a member. His son doesn't live there most of the time, but S. said we could come by and teach him (him being S.) so yay! But while we were visiting with him outside his house, my legs got eaten a live by misquittos! I attempted counting them and when I reached 100 I gave up because I was only about half way done! So my legs have been very itchy to say the least haha!!!
Sunday we had church and there was a great turn out! J., B., Papa J., the M. Family, the B. family, K.  and a couple other less actives were there! It was super exciting!!! We tried some people in the afternoon. Then we saw J. and K. and we read a talk with them from like 1978 (I think) that talked about how just as important as praying, is listening for answers.

My spiritual thought today might be one I've shared before because I love this scripture, but it is Romans 8:18 which reads, "For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us."

I love y'all so much and hope that y'all have a blessed week!
Love always,
Sister Amy Bennett :)

Our direction is ever more important than our speed!

Hey y'all!!!!
I hope that y'all are having another great week! I am doing well! It's been another good adventurous week!!!
Oh for those of you who heard about the hurricane that hit South Carolina, I was just north of the storm so we had a windy and rainy day, but not enough to interfere with the work at all. So yay for the upstate!
Now on to the overview of the week:
Monday: p-day! We played games and had fun and all the usual stuff! So that was good! In the evening we went out with Sis F. in the ward to try some people, but no one was home :(
Tuesday: we saw R.  and we read a talk with him called "Therefore they hushed their fears" from April 2015 general conference and talked about how through God and Christ we can overcome our fears. We then quickly saw a lady named L. with a member, Sis R. We shared 1 Nephi 11:17 and talked about how it is okay not to know everything in this life, but that it is amazing that we have a God in Heaven who loves us. We then sang at Golden Age. We then were planning on eating
dinner at a park to save on miles. My tummy had been acting up a little bit, but when we got to the park it was feeling very grumpy. The women's bathroom was having problems and so I went into the men's (which didn't have a lock by the way). And I ended up throwing up. So I can cross throwing up in an unlocked men's park bathroom off of my unintentional bucket list. Haha! But we were in for the evening that day :(
Wednesday: we helped out at the soup kitchen which was as awesome as usual!!! Then we had a lesson with Papa J.  again! We retaught him the restoration and helped answer his questions and he wants to work towards being baptized on October 1st!!!! Wahoo :) in the evening we saw B. again and taught about the Ten Commandments. Then we had our missionary meeting!
Thursday: we had yoga day!! Which is always a pleasure :) afterwords we came in to plan for our upcoming week! At dinner time I ended up throwing up again so we had to be in again :(
Friday: we had a really good zone meeting! It was super positive and awesome which I really appreciate! So yay :) afterwords I got a priesthood blessing because I was still feeling really sick. And let me tell y'all, the priesthood is real. We had lunch after that meeting and it was the first meal since Monday that I was able to keep in so that was really exciting!! God is good :) we tried some more people after lunch. In the evening we started teaching the restoration to a man named L., but he got interrupted, so we'll be going back to finish another time. Then we met a less active named B. who had recently moved here and was really excited to see us. Then we had a really good lesson with K. where we read a conference talk Called "You matter to him" from October 2011 and talked about how much God loves her.
Saturday: in the afternoon we saw D. (a less active) and talked about faith. Then we saw R. again and talked about God is aware of us and has the power to heal us of anything we are going through. We went to dinner with an older man named B. from the Soup Kitchen and we were able to introduce the Book of Mormon and share a verse with him! In the evening we had a good lesson with the B. family. We talked about the importance of obedience and why God gives us commandments.
Then we saw S. and talked about how "our direction is ever more important than our speed". We then had a really great lesson with L. It was cool because since we just stopped by it wasn't a very long or formal lesson with her, but as we talked and shared Alma 30:44 the spirit was there so strong! One of the most powerful times I've felt the spirit on my mission, so that was cool!
Sunday was great! We had church which was awesome! B., J., the M Family, and the B. family were all there :) then in the afternoon we finished Sister Colemans training! (For her training we got an hour every day of extra study except p-day and Sunday was her last time!). Then in the evening we saw Sister K.  and had a really good lesson with her!
So it was a great week!

Now it is Monday and we are doing great! We are both healthy and
working hard! Transfers are this week and calls came out this morning
and.... We are both staying!!! :) Which came as a big surprise but I am
so excited for this next transfer!

Spiritual thought is a quote from Elder Maxwell from the April 2002
conference which says, "Moreover, though we live in a failing world,
we have not been sent here to fail." God loves us, He knows us, and He
will help us succeed :)

I love y'all so much and hope y'all have a blessed week and a happy Labor Day!

Love always,
Sister Amy Bennett :)
